Think About Using River Rock In Your Landscape
When you have spent a lot of time working on your yard to make your landscape perfect, you want to be sure that your finishing touches will enhance your lawn and garden. One thing that you might want to consider is using river rocks as part of your landscaping. There are several ways that you can use river rocks for landscaping projects at your house.
Retaining Wall
One way to use these rocks as part of your landscaping is to have your landscaper create a retaining wall with them. The wall can be purely decorative or a practical wall that will hold back the dirt that could fall or erode away. If you are going to use it as decorative, then the landscaper can install the river rock wall with a dry process, which would mean no mortar; it's just the rocks holding everything together. If the wall is functional, you will need some mortar to hold the wall together. Concrete would work too.
Drainage and Water Control
Another way that you can use river rocks as part of your landscape is as a way to manage the water that ends up in your yard. One way to do that is to create an easy path for the water to go on. Water is lazy and will follow the path of least resistance, and you and your landscaper can create that with these rocks. You can start the path under your downspout and let the water follow the path down until it ends up where you want the water to be. That will keep water away from the foundation of your house, which protects your foundation and your basement. As the water travels the path, it will also slowly drain into the ground. The water will end up spread out instead of all dumped into the space by your foundation.
Edging
You can also use river rock as edging around the various flower beds, along walkways, and along your driveway. The rocks can be beautiful and really set off your garden, giving it the final jazzing up it needs.
If you have spent a lot of time working on your yard, you want to ensure that anything you add to it will look good and enhance your work. You can use river rocks to do what you need and make your yard look as good as you want it to look.
